Garage Sale

What is the Garage Sale?

At Animaritime's Garage Sale attendees have the opportunity to sell their used books, games, DVDs and toys. It allows fellow attendees the opportunity to peruse one of the convention's most popular events for some buried treasure. The Garage Sale is the perfect place to sell your unwanted swag to make room for the other goodies you’ll find during Animaritime 2013!

By purchasing a spot in our Garage Sale, attendees are able to sell their used items as they see fit within their allotted space allowing for freedom of price flexibility, bartering and presentation. Note, however, that all items deemed inappropriate for those under the age of 18 are only permitted to be sold by Animaritime staff members. These items will be sold in a special area accessible only to those with ID proving they are of legal age.

Sunday, June 30, 2013 – 10am – 1pm
(Set-Up Time for Sellers: 9:15am)
The Garage Sale may end earlier depending on attendees present and items remaining.

Cost:

Standard Items: 4ft x 4ft squares at $10 each.
18+ Items: 15% of money-made from items sold

How to Reserve a Spot:
Send an e-mail to garagesale@animaritime.org with the following information:

Name:
Date of Birth:
Number of Squares Required: (max of 3)
Selling any 18+ items? Yes or No

** Note that it is not mandatory for someone to be pre-registered for Animaritime to reserve a spot in the Garage Sale. However, at the time of the event, all those selling must be registered attendees of Animaritime. Badges must have been obtained prior to the Garage Sale and badges will not be issued during the sale itself.

Rules for Submitting Material For Sale:

Sale spots in the Garage Sale must be reserved in advance. Attendees must know how many squares they wish to reserve for planning purposes but exact number of items being sold is not required, with exception of 18+ material where an approximate number is required.

Spaces to sell your items are sold by 4ft x 4ft squares. These will be taped off areas on the floor with attendees selling items while seated behind them. Items from multiple attendees may be sold in one square for those selling only a few items. However, only one person may be seated at each square to sell items at any given time.

Animaritime staff reserve the right to determine if too many items are being displayed in a single space based on display clarity and safety issues. In the instance too much material is being sold in a single space, the owner of the space will be required to remove some of their items and replenish selling area based on available space or be offered the ability to purchase a second space if one is available.

All items being sold must be brought to the event area no later than one half hour prior to the Garage Sale starting. Those participating are required to be present at this time for set-up. At the discretion of those selling items, others participating in the event will be allowed a sneak-peek and buy of items present prior to the event opening to the public.

Sellers are not required to stay until the end of the garage sale event. However those who wish to leave early because of a) having sold all their items or b) time constraints, must have their area cleaned before leaving and will not be permitted to re-enter the garage sale event as a seller.

All items being sold are to be clearly labelled with the price of the item so that browsing attendees can easily see the cost. Sellers are permitted to haggle and bargain the price of items with interested attendees but are not obligated under any circumstance to do so.
Change cannot be provided for attendees selling items. All buyers will be told that cash and exact change will be required. For this reason it is recommended sellers price their items at intervals of one dollar (ie: $1, $2, $3, $4).

All maturely rated items of any kind (books, toys, DVDs, etc.) may only be sold by convention staff. These items are to be properly labelled and sectioned apart from your other items when arriving. Attendees are asked to use their discretion in deciding which Garage Sale specific items are appropriate. Animaritime staff reserve the right to refuse the selling of items deemed too inappropriate for sale even in the 18+ sale area or remove items from personal sale squares that fit the criteria of 18+ material.

No dangerous material or items that can be considered weapons are allowed in the Garage Sale. Attendees are also forbidden to sell food or drink. Original artwork and craft work are also not permitted to be sold and those interested in selling these items should apply for an Artist Alley table.

Animaritime and its affiliated staff are not responsible for any material that does not sell in the Garage Sale. Unsold items will remain property of their owners unless left behind and unclaimed. Any remaining 18+ items must be picked up from the convention Info Desk prior to closing hours on Sunday. Any items not picked up by con’s end become property of the convention.

Any questions or concerns can be directed to the Garage Sale Manager at garagesale@animaritime.org
